Board Overview

The Nottinghamshire Cricket Board is the governing body of recreational cricket within the county. The board strives to promote cricket at all levels in partnership with Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, our local clubs and all professional and recreational cricketing bodies.

The board manages The Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League, Nottinghamshire’s most prestigious cricket league which boasts a regular presence of current and former first class cricketers.

Around 200 clubs in Nottinghamshire are affiliated to the board and benefits include:

Board Structure

Ten committees are charged with shaping specific policies and practice:

The Recreational Council
This group acts as a forum for recreational cricket in Nottinghamshire.

Finance Group
Responsible for the board’s financial affairs.

Development Group
A long-sighted group tasked with evolving and implementing the board’s development plans.

Publicity, Advisory Services and Promotions Group
This group co-ordinates the distribution of information and produces the Cricket Annual and the official board website.

Senior Cricket
Responsible for the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League and other senior cricket leagues in the county.

Junior, Youth and Coaching
This group looks after all aspects of youth cricket including representative squads, coaching schemes, youth leagues to ensure that young people in Nottinghamshire are provided with positive cricketing opportunities.

Schools
Responsible for promoting cricket in primary and secondary schools across the county.

Women and Girls|
Co-ordinates a clear player pathway for women and girls by encouraging them development of female sections and selecting representative sides featuring the most talented players.

Cricket for the disabled
This group seeks to encourage people with disabilities to pursue cricket.

Affiliation Package
A package of benefits has been constructed to provide good value to clubs that choose to affiliate themselves to the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board.

Each affiliated club contributes an annual £35 for one team, plus an additional £5 per team to a maximum overall total of £50.

Club’s receive the following benefits when they become affiliated to the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board:

  • regular newsletters featuring competition, funding and event information
  • specific information for groundsmen, coaches, umpires and scorers
  • automatic affiliation to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB)
  • an understanding of the Board’s primary aim i.e.: to support and develop the game;
  • a clear set of NCB Recreational Council rules for the game – see Handbook;
  • the governance of cricket across the County;
  • the strategic leadership for cricket;
  • a clear and supportive structure for cricket both professional and voluntary and
  • a process to ensure the above is enabled effectively through an established NCB Operational Management Group

The Board has access to 6 full-time Officers who work on behalf of the board, a number of part-time paid professionals and a dedicated group of volunteers.

Affiliated Clubs access subsidised courses for education and leadership in cricket development, coach education and scorers, umpires and officials development.

All Affiliated Clubs‘ members are able to take advantage of a discounted membership rate at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.
