Coach Education Courses in Nottinghamshire
October 2011 to April 2012

Courses

UKCC1 (Assistant Coach)

This course starts you on the coaching pathway and focuses strongly on the “How to Coach” skills.  These skills are a pre-requisite on the pathway to becoming a successful coach at the next and ensuing levels. 

Format and Joining Requirements

  • The four modules of the course are delivered weekly either on the same weekday evening 6pm to 9pm or on two consecutive Sundays 9am to 4pm
  • An assessment takes place on a fifth session during which the candidate is required to run a 10 to 15 minute session using 6/8 other candidate coaches who act as players during the assessment
  • ALL candidates MUST
  • complete an ECB Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)  Form
  • attend a Safeguarding and Protecting Children Course (SPC) of 3 hours duration
  • attend a First Aid Course (approx 1½ hours duration)
  • be a minimum age of 16 yrs at commencement of the course 

UKCC2 (Coach)

This course builds on the skills acquired on UKCC1. The course expands on both the
“How to Coach” & “What to Coach” skills.

Format and Joining Requirements

  • The course comprises of 8 x 3 hour modules which take place over four consecutive Sundays from 9am to 4pm
  • An assessment takes place when candidates have produced evidence that they have undertaken supported practice (a minimum of six coaching sessions with children, supervised by a current UKCC2 coach)
  • This assessment is normally held approximately two months after the final module and comprises a 15 minute group session plus a review with the assessor
  • ALL candidates MUST
  • Be a current member of the ECB Coaches Association
  • hold a current England and Wales Cricket Board ( ECB) Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Form
  • hold a current  Safeguarding and Protecting Children Course Certificate (SPC)
  • hold a current First Aid Certificate (RLSS or equivalent)
  • Minimum age 18 years at commencement of course

Coach Development Workshops (CDWs)

  • The primary target audience for these workshops are coaches who have achieved UKCC2 status.  These workshops are designed to act as “stepping stones” for individuals who wish to work towards attending the ECB Club Coach Assessment which is a pre-requirement for acceptance on UKCC3 (Head Coach). Candidates wishing to undertake the Assessment must attend all six workshops
  • These workshops can also be booked individually as continuous personal development

  • Priority will be given to Focus Club members for the period to July 1st
  • After this date applications will be accessible to all using the criteria as below

The appropriate fee for all course, workshops and modules MUST BE submitted with the application form irrespective of any funding stream monies being received or in transit. An application will not be confirmed until receipt of payment.  Cheques to be made payable to Nottinghamshire Association of Cricket Coaches

Over Subscription

Should courses become oversubscribed the following criteria will be applied in priority order:

  • Applicant is a member of a Focus Club
  • Applicant is a member of a club actively working towards ClubMark accreditation
  • Applicant is a member of a club affiliated to the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board
  • Teachers working in Nottinghamshire Schools
  • Any other applicants

Funding Sources and Course Fees

  • ECB funding is unfortunately not available at present
  • Some District Councils may still have funding streams for coach education. Contact your local District Council Sports Development Officer for details
