Wollaton Through On Scoring Rate

Wollaton will represent the Notts Premier League in the East Midlands regional finals of the ECB National Club t20 Competition, on August 14, in Northamptonshire.

They won the finals day, played as a round robin tournament, at Papplewick & Linby CC.

All three teams finished with one win apiece but Wollaton took it on scoring rate.

Clifton Village hit 167-9 to beat Hyson Green Carrington Caribs, who were bowled out for 122 in 18 overs. Paul Macmillan scored 28 and took 3-21 for the winners, while W Rana (2-28) and A Tariq (55) starred for Caribs.

Caribs (139-5) had the satisfaction of beating Wollaton (129-9). Rana took 3-23, while S Morathota hit a fine 61.

But Wollaton (167-5) hit back to beat Clifton (166-5). They knocked off the required runs in just 15.5 overs through A Reed-Brewer (63*) and T Young (38).

Scott McNeill (33), J Taylor (32), Martin Weightman (34*) and Dan Footitt (30*) all made valuable contributions for Clifton.

Derbyshire Premier Cup quarter-finals: A&B 245 (A Woolley 81) lost to Derbyshire Colts 260-9 (H Siddique 117, M Sanderson 67) by 15 runs; Ockbrook & Borrowash 334-4 (M Lineker 142, M Cassar 102*) bt RR Leisure 171 (J Needham 3-20) by 163 runs; Quarndon 257-5 (M Sultan 111, N Dumelow 65) bt Lullington Park 248-9 (R Green 69, J Ede 4-30) by 9 runs.

Beechwood SAAB ECB Premier: Alfreton 137 (A Mace 36, E Kelly 3-22) lost to Dunstall 138-4 by 6 wkts; Chesterfield 183-8 (B Slater 76, P Dawson 6-53) drew with Lullington Park 212-6 (J Doherty 85); Ilkeston Rutland 90 (K Dean 4-27, G Morgan 3-11) lost to Ockbrook & Borrowash 91-1 by 9 wkts; Sandiacre Town 78-2 (J Chapman 50*) bt A&B 74 (D Wheeldon 3- 25, J Jordison 3-5) by 8 wkts; Spondon 216 (B Ashdown 60, R S Haider 3-45, M Usman 3-51) lost to RR Leisure 217-3 (S Shafiq 94, B Ejaz 70) by 7 wkts; Ticknall 275-5 (P Borrington 107) drew with Quarndon 202-6 (M Dowman 105).
