Leaders Welbeck Edge Narrow Win

All six games played to a finish in the Nottinghamshire Premier League as the threat of disrupted games seemed to galvanise the players as each match ended in a positive result without a drawn game in sight.

Welbeck Colliery maintained their pole position with an incredibly close home win against a Kimberley side that has had a good start to the season.

The visitors won the toss and fielded first and in a game reduced to 48 overs per side saw Welbeck close on 203-8 thanks to solid contributions from Martin Dobson (48), Guy Darwin (45) and Andrew Marchant (33).

Chris Glover had a great day with the ball, taking 5-57 from 12 overs.

Kimberley came so close to snatching a win but were dismissed only two runs short of their target in the 47th over.

Jon Terry with 57, skipper Sam Ogrizovic with 48 and Carl Blake (43) looked to have the visitors on track but the Welbeck bowlers stuck resolutely to their task, led admirably by Jon Ball (3-38) and Luke Waterhouse (3-59).

Cavaliers also secured another win at Birchover Park, this time against Caythorpe who are now fourth from bottom.

The home side won the toss and asked Caythorpe to have first dig and had that decision vindicated when they dismissed the visitors in less than 40 overs for 153.

Only Chris Allcoat (33) and James Oldham (30) made significant contributions as Saqlain Mushtaq maintained his outstanding start to his career in Nottinghamshire in grabbing 4-22.

The Cavaliers didn't find the total that easy to overcome but did so for the loss of six wickets in 46 overs to net full points.

Skipper Usman Afzaal continued his hot streak with 50 but it was the experienced pair of Steve Atkinson and Dominic Williamson who saw the Cavs home with unbeaten innings of 38 and 34 respectively. Jim Hemmings led the Caythorpe attack well with figures of 3-30.

Clifton lie in third after their third successive win, this time at home against Mansfield Hosiery Mills.

The champions' batting roared back to form when they posted a strong 268-5 in their 46 overs in this reduced duration match. Richard Harris kick-started his season with a magnificent 107 from 122 balls, with solid support lent by Tom Lungley and Dom Harvey, both of whom ended unbeaten on 43.

Jonathan Salmon enjoyed the best return for a Mansfield bowler with 3-42.

The Clifton bowlers then dismissed Mansfield for 132 in 30 overs with Martin Weightman leading the charge with 4-15 and Adam Shepherd grabbing 3-26. The only Mansfield batsmen to come to terms with the conditions were Gareth Curtis with 39 and James Fraser with 36.

The Nottinghamshire Academy continued their excellent form after beating Kiveton Park by eight wickets at Lady Bay.

Academy skipper Andrew Parkin-Coates called right at the toss and chose to field first and his decision looked the right one when they restricted the visitors to 163-9 in this match also reduced to 46 overs.

Parkin-Coates did much of the damage himself with 4-47 and Brett Hutton chipped in with 3-19. Matthew Cartwright showed his continuing comfort at this level with 66 with solid support from Richard Spurr with 47.

The county side continued on from their excellent ten-wicket win last time out against Wollaton, this time racing to the target in just shy of 22 overs thanks to 53 from Tom Rowe and an unbeaten 78 from Scott Elstone.

Wollaton nearly broke the symmetry of positive results but succumbed off the last ball of the match with Cuckney at Langwith Lane.

The visitors batted first in another shortened game and went to tea on 154-9 from their 42 overs with Tim Young again starring with 58 not out, supported by skipper Ed Savill with an unbeaten 32.

The ever-dangerous Richard Stroh got the most from the conditions with 3-37.

Cuckney managed to sneak over the line off the last ball with Lucas Carlisle's 33 catching the eye, and despite the best efforts of Wollaton's Alex King who took 3-28.

The final game saw Papplewick kick start their thus-far stuttering season with a four-wicket win over Belvoir.

Papplewick won the toss and dismissed the SNCL champions for 151 in 40 overs; Gurpej Landa again impressed with 36 supported by Phil Irvine's 31.

Husnain Riaz led the Papplewick attack with the day's best figures of 6-33. The home side overcame their target for the loss of six wickets
